A COVENANT CRIES OUT
The day was April 30th, 1789. This was a day of making covenant with Almighty God for The United States of America. A proclamation was made for the sacred gathering at Federal Hall. “Come and see your President take his oath and pray that God will accept this land as His”.
At 9am the bells rang throughout the city. George Washington made his official oath of office in New York City. He laid his hand on the Bible, (and not just merely upon the Bible—he specifically opened it up and laid his hand upon the covenant God had made with Abraham in the book of Genesis). Then lifting his other arm upward toward to heaven, Washington made a vow to lead our nation and honor the God of Israel and His covenant.
(I think it’s notable that the only other President to do this was Ronald Reagan.)
After Washington invoked his oath and covenant unto the Lord and sealed it with – “so help me God”, he bowed his knee to the ground in reverence and kissed the Bible.
Afterward, Washington called the senators, and newly elected officials to join him, as they walked arm in arm down the streets of New York to St. Paul’s Chapel. There they bowed together, prayed and DEDICATED THIS LAND —our beloved America to GOD! The day that George Washington was inaugurated was the day that covenant was invoked. America belonged to God Almighty!
And I say TODAY, April 30th, 2020 WE STILL BELONG TO GOD ALMIGHTY!
I stand first and foremost as a Christian and with millions of bold and courageous patriots as a witness with George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, John Adams, and countless other American patriots from our beginnings until this day, to testify that America is One Nation Under God! Though we have strayed from His grace, we must remember our covenant and vow to the Lord!
On May 17, 1776, our Congress prayed for divine favor. They declared a “Day of Humiliation, Fasting and Prayer” throughout the colonies. The day was set apart and called sacred unto the Lord to “. . . confess and bewail our manifold sins and transgressions, and by a sincere repentance and amendment of life, appease his displeasure, and through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ, obtain his pardon and forgiveness.”
They didn’t call out to Allah (the moon god), nor to Buddha, nor to one of the 330 million false gods of Hinduism…they called upon the Name that is above every name — The One True God —The King of Kings and Lord of Lords!
Psalm 33:12 | NKJV
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord…”
Friends, when we take God out of America, we lose! When we honor Him as our Lord and God, we win! We presently have a culture and government that embraces and openly celebrates all that God says is wrong. Many Christians are foolishly ready to throw up their hands and say we have no power to change America and all is lost. But that is not true! All is not lost! Make no mistake; TODAY plays a very important role in American history and we must pray and repent. We must return to the covenant keeping One —
The Lord Jesus Christ!
Never underestimate the prayers of the
righteous! God hears those who are His! He knows His covenant keepers. His remnant will raise the banner high and call America back to His throne of grace!
WILL WE Humble Ourselves and Repent?
2 Chronicles 7:14
“… if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their
wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
America’s ULTIMATE COMEBACK rests upon this command —will we repent and turn from our sin and wickedness? Will we truly humble ourselves before the Lord and confess that we have betrayed Him? Will we turn from our corruption, iniquities and transgressions? Will we open our hard and impenitent hearts to
repent of our unfaithfulness? Will we awaken to His love and mercy? Do we really understand that without Him, all will be lost?
We must believe and contend for awakening and reformation in our generation! His blood and grace is still amazing to forgive, heal and deliver us from evil! God’s will and God’s obligation are two different things entirely. Without a doubt, it is God’s will to heal and restore America, but if we do not fully repent and come to Him, He is fully obligated to deal with us according to His Word. Every parent understands this.
My heart aches for America. These days are very dark, but there is still hope! My fervent prayer is that we are now entering into a new and glorious Great Awakening. It has been said that its always darkest before the dawn, and that has always been true in America, before every great spiritual movement. This was true before the First Great Awakening, the Second Great Awakening and all other awakenings. In that darkness, God’s people united in prayer and fasting to turn the tide!
THE BLOOD of the New Covenant that JESUS shed on a brutal cross, on a hill Jerusalem, cries out MERCY to us! When America turns to the crucified and resurrected One, then we will behold The Burning Lamp, The Unstoppable and Unquenchable One! Then we will witness Him from coast to coast, from sea to shining sea, as He reaches to cleanse and heal us by His own blood, pouring His everlasting mercies upon America!
God loves America! He has not abandoned us, and His love for our Nation has not diminished nor withered. His hope is alive, burning and pulsating with everlasting love. He is the Everlasting and Ever Faithful One. He is the covenant keeping God! America is a special treasure to the Lord. She has been the catalyst to spread the knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth, and now she must once again awaken to the voice of God!
JESUS is the hope of the Nations — and He is is the only true source for our ultimate comeback.

God be praised for patriots like you that love the Lord and our country! Our testimony must be bold, as bold as yours concerning the future of our beloved America. America has been unfaithful to a covenant God, but I am trusting in His covenant heart to have mercy and give us grace and revival to turn back to Him.

God bless you for the inspirational article. In recent times my passionate prayer has been that the Lord will remember the covenant at Saint Paul’s Church and visit New York City and the United States with an awakening. My prayer is that one night families, friends and coworkers will dream the same dream revealing the glory and bliss of Heaven, horrors of hell and others the church being pointed to them. This experience should bring a powerful conviction upon NYC and the United States as whole for sake of the lost. God bless the faithful intercessors. God bless NYC. God bless America.
