7 Day Fast | UNTO THE LORD | Day 3

7 Day Fast | UNTO THE LORD | DAY 3
From Brian Gibbs
January 11, 2022

Good morning, dear friends. Today is day three as we have entered a very special time of consecration, humility and opening the door to a deeper, more intimate and powerful relationship with JESUS! Our desire is to possess hearts that are fully set apart Unto The Lord. We hunger and thirst for deeper intimacy, heart to heart union and a more powerful relationship with JESUS.

Bren and I are blessed that you have chosen to participate in “UNTO THE LORD” by setting aside 7 days to pray, fast and draw nearer to God. Fasting is not just an exercise for super-spiritual people. It is actually supposed to a part of every believer's personal and private spiritual life. Personally, we have found there is no better way to reset and recalibrate our spiritual compass, as well as bring about change and discipline in every area of our lives, than through fasting.

We pray that you will experience the presence and power of Jesus in an extraordinary way as you commit yourself to Him over the next 7 days. May God continue to bless you and ignite your passion for Him as you seek Him first.

Happy New Year 2022!

DAY 3

FASTING: CONSECRATION

Scripture Reading for today:
Romans 8:5 & Romans 12:1-2

Romans 8:5 “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.”

Romans 12:1-2 “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Romans 12:1-2 (The Passion Translation) “Beloved friends, what should be our proper response to God’s marvelous mercies? I encourage you to surrender yourselves to God to be his sacred, living sacrifices. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights his heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship. Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.”

Our consciousness to the abiding presence of God within us is what really determines our level of consecration. As I said on our first day, fasting is not a religious duty but it is our spiritual worship and our love language. I believe that in fasting, we experience our heart being anchored to the reality that we are truly loved, chosen, called out and appointed first and foremost unto the Lord. We are set apart and consecrated unto Him.

Fasting has the extraordinary ability to fortify truth and causes our hearts to be yielded and surrendered to the Lord. Our love for Jesus is manifested by how we obey His truth/voice and place His word in full supremacy above all. Our consecration is proven by our desire to honor His Word and be a man or woman of God who trembles at His word. Isaiah 66:2 says, “This is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at My word.”

God says—this is the person I’m going to look to: the one who’s humble, the one who’s contrite or broken over sin. Who is the person He’s looking for? Is it you? Stop reading for a moment and ask yourself, “Do I match the description of the person to whom God is looking to?”

Father God is looking on this earth, looking for someone who still trembles, someone who hears His Word and cries out, ‘Wow! That came from God! I just read words sent to me from God almighty, from the great I AM!’” When you view the Word of God like that, you realize how much you need to listen, believe it, heed it, and how much you need to act in obedience.

I pray you are strengthened today as you fast and pray. I pray that the Holy Spirit reminds you continually that you are consecrated unto The Father.
Remember that fasting is not a seasonal event — it is a lifestyle.

Make it a great day and be blessed!
Brian
